Since my awakening into the political and international affairs realm, I felt at least a minimal sense of disgust at all political parties running today around the world. There was always an air of corruption that swarmed politics ever since politics came out. The thing is, you're siding with people, and if you join a party, you have to almost be in lockstep with whatever the said party does, or you're out of it. In America, you're almost either a Democrat or a Republican. In Palestine, you're either with Fatah or Hamas. In the 70's, people were either hippies or communists, figuratively speaking.
But what's with all these parties and groups? All we've seen in the media is more partisan bickering amongst these parties: party members argue against the weaknesses of their rivals without addressing their own, and political advocates work "min taht la taht" (meaning that they work so hard) to drive their opponents to the ground. They usually talk about the silliest of issues that it becomes impossible to find a reasonable voice amongst the mess that they make with their big mouths and pansy apparrel appearances... not to mention their "kiss the baby" attitude to win them more favor. They encourage others to join them, and discourage them from joining what they deem as "wrong" and parties who would "bring the country down" and so forth.
That's why I am a Non-Partisan.
I don't affiliate myself with any political party or organization. I only affiliate myself with my religion, my community and my people: I am a Muslim. Arab. Palestinian. I am also a liberal libertarian, but I do not support any party whatsoever. I side with every non-partisan who prefers to stick to the sidelines and prefers to stick to international affairs, not politics. Politics, in its current form, is messy, and I tend to stick to activism when it dissociates from political parties and such affiliations.
Don't take me wrong: I don't hate partisans, but I hate corrupt politicians and (believe it or not) messed-up statesmen who suck up to politicians. I don't take a politician's words for gold, and I tend to be among those who prefer to keep the government in check and prevent it from turning the other way around. If you want my advice, don't go into politics if you're tired of partisan bickering, and stick to being a non-partisan like myself.
